Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving – Review

GiftOfGiving

by M. Maitland DeLand, illustrated by Phil Wilson

I was sent a children’s book called “Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving” written by M. Maitland DeLand in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited when I receive this beautifully illustrated hardcover Christmas book that I could share with my niece and nephew.  So, over the Thanksgiving holiday, we grabbed a snugly blanket and sat down to read the story together.

Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving opens with Baby Santa accompanied by reindeer and elves dashing off to New York City only days before Christmas, following the arrival of a letter at the North Pole from the Bond family asking Santa: How can they share the spirit of giving on their upcoming trip to New Your City?

We follow Baby Santa and the Bond family as they travel around New York City, visiting the children’s hospital, animal shelter, and more sharing the holiday spirit, food, and gifts along the way.

It ends with Baby Santa heading home to help Santa prepare for the holidays.

My niece, nephew and I really enjoyed this story about kindness and sharing. Young children naturally think that the world revolves around them, but it’s important to work to instill the spirit of generosity in them. This beautiful story in rhyming text lends the opportunity to remind children the holidays are about so much more than gifts.

Give the gift of literature this Christmas. Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving can be purchased on Amazon.comBarnes and Noble or Kindle edition. This is sure to become a family favorite.
